Food Waste Management for Biogas Production in the Context of Sustainable Development

In the context of increasing pressure regarding sustainable utilization food waste in a circular economy, one trends is their biological transformation, through anaerobic digestion, into biogas as renewable source energy. We presented physical-chemical properties main categories from different sources: dairy, meat, and poultry, fish, fruit vegetable, cereal bakery, brewing winery industries, others. Due to high organic load, presence multitude nutrients, an insignificant amount inhibitors, can be successfully used production process co-digestion with other materials. Physical (mechanical thermal), chemical (alkali, acid, oxidative), (enzymatic, bacterial, fungal) techniques have been widely for pretreatment substrate types, including waste. These pretreatments facilitate degradation pretreated during digestion thus lead enhancement production. The purpose this study review situation generated industry formulate progress use process.
